126 CARS FILL FAIRGROUNDS SQUARE MALL AS 23RD ANNUAL NAPA AUTO PARTS READING RACING REUNION & CAR SHOW OPENS

It's a Full House!   The Fairgrounds Square Mall, located on the 5th Street Highway in Reading, PA and on the property that was once the Reading Fairgrounds Speedway is now home (at least for a week) to one-hundred and twenty-six race cars as the NAPA Auto Parts Reading Racing Reunion & Car Show opens for its twenty-third year.      The week long show will run daily through Saturday, March 1st, when the show will close at 9 PM.

A big variety of race cars from various divisions of local auto racing are on display including some of greatest restored race cars.  At center count your find the restored Lloyd sprinter driven by Smokey Snellbaker, the Sterner #69 sprint car driven by Van May and one of the most popular cars to view, the #32 three window coupe driven by Tony Volz.    This car is not restored but is displayed in it's current condition.

The Reading Fairgrounds Historical Society is present in the event with an outstanding display once again as well as the URC Sprints, ARDC Midgets, Grandview Speedway, Shellhammer's Speedway, Marsh Creek, LANCO, Kutztown Fairgrounds and the Checkered Flag Fan Club just to name a few of the displays.

Some very beautiful race cars are on display and include the modifieds of Jon Haegele, Mike Nicholas, Craig Whitmoyer and Kyle Wiess.  Some eye catchers for the Late Models include  the #69 of Greg Hofmaster, the 118 of Randy Stoudt, the 04 of Bret Guzik and the 117 of Kyle Merkel.    The Micro-Sprints are in top form as well with  the 6c of John Coon, the 57 of Brandon Edgar and the 54 of Fred Bitner showing very well.   In the Open Cockpit class be sure to take a look at the USA 1 of Steve Hicks, the 87 of Andy Burkhart, the Doug Hendricks #80 and the BPG Racing #4 of Chris Coyle.  At the top of the list for the go-karts is the #6 of Brandon McGough the 10 of Andrea Quillman and the 59 of Dakota Kohler.   All the cars look great and certainly worth a visit to the Fairgrounds Square Mall in Reading, PA.

Wednesday night at 7 PM, a special Meet the Drivers Night will take place at center court. Drivers from all divisions will be on hand for interviews, photos and autographs. URC driver Chris Coyle will be on hand to announce his plans for 2008 along with sponsor Chad Sinon. Coyle will be sporting the popular BPG Motorsports colors and numbers on the URC tour of 2008. Modified, Late Model, ARDC Midget and Micro-Sprint drivers will be on hand for interviews.

On Friday night, the Legends Reunion will steal the show as the popular great drivers and racing personalities gather on the sacred Reading Fairgrounds property just one more time. The Legends Reunion will get underway at 7 PM with a special salute to sprint car stars Smokey Snellbaker and Van May, two winning drivers at the Fairgrounds oval. There will also be a special salute to URC drivers Kramer Williamson and Glenn Fitzcharles who were both recent inductees into the Knoxville Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

Following the Reunion, the gang will move to the Temple Fire Company for The BASH Racing Movie Party sponsored by Lee Myles Transmissions on the 5th Street Highway. The Lee Myles BASH Racing Movie Party is set for Friday night, February 29 at the Temple Fire Company with doors opening at 8:30 PM with The BASH continuing to at least 1 AM. Music for dancing, great racing movies from the past and present and plenty of fun is planned for all who attend. The BASH has quickly become a " don't miss-fun event" as many local drivers attend, offering fans an opportunity to meet them away from the race track.

Admission to The BASH Racing Movie Party is just $10. Tickets may be purchased during the Reading Racing Reunion & Car Show at the event shirt stand at center court of the Mall. Tickets may also be purchased in advance by sending a check or money order to Speedway Promotions 129 Mill Pond Place Langhorne, PA 19047. Please make your check payable to Speedway Promotions and enclose a self addressed and stamped envelop. Because of limited seating and an always large turnout, it's a good idea to get your tickets in advance. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door, but a sell out is expected. There will be a cash bar available as well. Also part of The BASH will be the presentation of the Car Show Special Awards.

On Saturday, the final day of the show, the Ms. Micro Sprint Competition will take place at Center Court at 1 PM along with interviews for the drivers of go-karts, micro sprints, slingshots. legends and a salute to the quarter-midget drivers of today.
