IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Show Asks Racers and Fans to Help  With Food Drive for Families of Deployed Military Personnel

IRCO Community Federal Credit Union, sponsor of the IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Car Show at the Phillipsburg Mall from March 7 through 15, is asking that racers and fans attending the show bring with them a non-perishable food item to be donated to families of Phillipsburg-area military personnel who are currently deployed in service to our country.

IRCO is teaming with Bill Nixon, a local Vietnam veteran who has partnered with a Phillipsburg area food pantry to help local families whose loved ones are serving in Iraq.

“I knew what it was like to leave my wife and daughter behind when I was in Vietnam,” said Nixon, who served in the U.S. Navy and last year retired as Vice Principal of Phillipsburg High School.  “I know how important it is to know your family is being taken care of.”  The program is based at the Phillipsburg Amory and is part of the Family Readiness Group, an initiative that supports military families.

Bill is a long-time fan of local dirt track racing, having attended the Harmony, Nazareth and Flemington Speedways starting in the 1960s.

Non-perishable food items can be dropped off each day of the show at IRCO’s information table at the mall or at IRCO’s main office located at 450 Hillcrest Blvd., Phillipsburg, NJ.
