Super Late Model Win Worth $5000 for Ricky Elliott at New Egypt

New Egypt, NJ (Oct. 13, 2007) - Ricky Elliott of Seaford, DE came to
New Egypt Speedway on Sunday with eyes on taking home the $5000 top
prize. When all was said and done that is just what happened as
Elliott swept the event winning his 10 lap heat race and then taking
the 40 lap Super Late Model championship event to close out the
Roctober at the Jersey Shore weekend.

"We had a great car today," stated Elliott, "I just want to thank
everyone who helps make this possible. I knew Tim (Fuller) was there
the last 10 laps and I just concentrated on keeping my line up on the
cushion."

Elliott grabbed the lead on the initial start from his outside pole
starting spot as Mark Pettyjohn gave chase. Elliott and Pettyjohn
quickly opened up a large lead on the rest of the field former NES
Sportsman champion G.R. Smith raced into third followed by his
teammate Don Lingo and 12th starting Tim Fuller. Fuller, the 2007 WoO
Late Model rookie of the year, was a man on a mission as he charged
into third without the help of a yellow flag. The first caution of
the event was displayed at the halfway mark closing the field back up
behind leader Elliott. At this point just 9 cars remained on the lead
lap. The restart saw Fuller waste no time as he shot by Pettyjohn and
went right after Elliott. Elliott was setting a blistering pace, but
he could not shake Fuller until he got back into lapped traffic, when
he opened up a semi comfortable 8 car length advantage. However this
was all erased when the second yellow flew on lap 30. This time
Fuller would stay with Elliott, even getting a nose under him at
times, but was unable to get the bite he needed in the low groove to
pull off the winning pass. Elliott drove the perfect line on the
cushion over the final 10 laps to take a very popular win over Fuller
by just 1 car length. Fuller, who finished fifth in Saturday's second
Modified 50 lapper had to settle for second. Mark Pettyjohn drove a
strong race, holding off his brother Kenny for third. Kenny Pettyjohn
and Don Lingo crossed the line in fourth and fifth respectively.
Rounding out the top ten were Alan Sage, G.R. Smith, David Pettyjohn,
Scott Labarron and Mark Malcomb.

Mike Krachun of Neshanic, NJ ended his New Egypt Sportsman career in
winning fashion as he claimed the win in the 30 lap event. Krachun,
who will move up to Big-Block Modifieds next season beat John Romano,
Jr. and 2007 champ Willie Osmun to pick up a total of $1900 for the
victory. Following Romano and Osmun to the finish were Gary Butler in
fourth and John Stangle in fifth.

In the 20 lap 600cc Micro Sprint feature Jimmy Carpenter won for the
second straight time. Carpenter led from the start and held on to win
despite a spectacular charge by Glenn Heverin who came from 10th
starting spot to finish second using the far outside groove on the
speedway. Without the help of a caution over the final 14 laps
Heverin ran out of time and settled for a crowd pleasing runnerup
finish. John Carpenter finished third, Jason VanDorn drove home
fourth while Ryan McCollum held on to finish fifth.

The Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club was on hand and put on an
exhibition race that was won by Wayne Weaver over Dave Sperlin and
brother Paul Weaver.

Coming up on Sunday, October 28th, it will be Halloween Havoc at New
Egypt as the 600cc Micro Sprints return for their final show of the
season. They will be joined by a 100 lap Enduro race and a Demolition
Derby. Also the Moto Pimps will be on hand to conduct an exhibition
of Freestyle Motorcross. Gates open at 12:00 p.m. with racing
beginning at 1pm. All kids wearing a Halloween Costume will be
admitted for free.
