A-1 Racing Products, American Racer, & Insinger Race Fuels sign on for 2008 NES season
New Egypt, NJ…..This current off-season has been a busy one at the New Egypt Speedway. Fresh off a successful Motorsports Weekend, Awards Banquet, and most recently a trip to the RPM Promoters Workshops during Daytona’s Speedweeks, NES has inked three new deals for the 2008 season.
The first one is Warminster, Pa’s A-1 Racing Products. A-1 has jumped on board in a major way at NES for this upcoming season. Not only will A-1 serve as the official track’s parts supplier for ’08, they have signed on to sponsor the Sportsman division as well.
“We’re really pumped up to be back at New Egypt this year and even more excited about sponsoring the Sportsman division,” sales representative Rob Pierce commented. “The Sportsman class puts on some of the best racing at New Egypt. They have some of the best sportsman drivers in the area. They have full fields with top-notch equipment each and every Saturday and A-1 is proud to be associated with this popular NES division.“
“A-1 will also contribute $100 in A-1 Racing Products gift certificates at the end of the year to each of the drivers who finish 11-20 in the final A-1 Sportsman point standings. We feel that this is a win-win situation for everyone involved. New Egypt is linked with the finest parts dealer in the area while A-1 Racing Products is linked with one of the best dirt tracks in Northeast,” concluded Pierce.
An old familiar face returns in American Racer. A/R will once again be the official track tire at the New Egypt Speedway for the 2008 racing campaign. Also returning to the scene will be Pit Stop Tire Service which is owned and operated by four-time modified track champion Billy Pauch. Pauch will sell the American Racing tires from his shop in Frenchtown New Jersey.
The modified teams will be allowed to run the D.I.R.T. soft Hoosiers from 2007 for three races starting the week after opening day. The Garden State Dual Track Series will headline New Egypt’s opener where both NES and Bridgeport competitors will both be on their own respective American Racers. The Sportsman and Crate 1 Sportsman division will also have three races to use up any D.I.R.T. soft or C-3000 Hoosiers from the 2007 season starting on opening night. NES will be running a different compound on the A/R as they have in years past. The SD-44 and SD-48 will be the compound (Bridgeport/Grandview compound) as the SD-33 will no longer be run at the speedway. The Super Stocks and SS Sprints will have five races to use their Hoosiers from last year until they are required to switch to the American Racers.
NES will be honoring Bridgeport and Grandview stamped American Racers when a rainout occurs at either of those two speedways. The same will go for track licenses. “You need to take care of your own and those who support you, but at the same time you’d like to offer an incentive for others to race at your track,” confirmed co-owner Bill Miscoski. “We want the racers at Bridgeport and Grandview to know that they are more than welcome to come and race at New Egypt when their speedway suffers from a rainout.”
The last of the new trio to sign on at NES this year is Dushore, Pa’s Insinger Performance Race Fuels, who will play a major role at New Egypt in 2008. Torco Race Fuel will be the official fuel sold at the track this season. “With the rising cost of race fuel we had to look at all our options,” offered Miscoski. “We talked with several different companies and distributors and we feel that we went with the best choice. Bruce (Insinger) really stepped up to the plate this winter and provided just what NES was looking for…maintaining a reasonable price on fuel, contributing money towards our point fund, and sponsorship at the speedway.”
To be honest I’m really excited about working with Brad (Creighton) from A-1, Fred (Lias Tire), Billy Pauch, and Bruce from Insinger Performance. Almost all of our drivers are returning for weekly competition in 2008. I’m also excited about the drivers at our track this year. Our modified car count looks to be healthier than ever as we expect car counts to average roughly in the mid thirties. The Crates and Outlaw Stocks will most likely see their counts double in ’08 from last year. Our Sportsman and Super Stock counts look like they’ll mirror last years with probably a few more Super Stocks returning after taking last year off.
In seasons past New Egypt’s “Winter Jam” has been held at Gambler’s Ridge Golf Course. It should be noted that the pre-season get-together will be held at a different location in 2008. On Friday, March 7 NES will be hosting its annual “Winter Jam” at the Cream Ridge Golf Club. Cream Ridge is located seven miles north of the track on Route 539. Pit licenses, pit stall spots, preferred spectator parking, and season passes can all be purchased when the doors open at 5pm on Friday. Schedules will be available and the NES staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the upcoming season. Food and drinks will be available for everyone on hand.
Pit Licenses will remain at $75 as in years past if they are purchased prior to opening day (April 19). The cost for a track license will then be $100 after April 18. The pit entry fee for non-license holders has been reduced to $35 this year as opposed to the $40 in seasons past.
For the Sunday events (Small Car Sundays & Demo/Enduro Series) there will be no licenses required for entry to the pit area. $25 will be the back gate fee for those events for everyone. A track license is not required to compete at NES this season for the micro sprints and there will be no entry fees for drivers. However, all 600cc Micro Sprint drivers must purchase a $100 track license in order for point money eligibility. The top 10 in points will receive money at the year ending banquet.
The micro sprints will race for $500 to win with 24 cars to start in all 12 scheduled races. The micros will be part of a seven race series dubbed as “Small Car Sundays” which include the Klascar Legends and the 600 Modified Series. The other five events for the micros will be held during the Demolition Derby/Enduro Series.
“We are really looking forward to these Sunday events,” stated Miscoski. “With two organizations such as Klascar and Doug’s 600 modified series, I can’t wait. Throw in some of the best micro sprint drivers in the tri-state area and you have one hell of a show with all these “smaller” cars. And then we have five demo derbys and enduros which really drew a different kind of interest at NES last year. We’ve received tons of phone calls over the winter about our demolition derbys that we have scheduled this year. To round it all out we have seven ‘Mud Bogs’ on Sunday afternoons which gives us yet another different flavor of racing at New Egypt.
New Egypt Speedway will also be participating in the Dirt Track Heroes and Car Show at the Phillipsburg Mall Show which is being held from March 9 to March 16. Wednesday, March 12 at 7pm some of the NES drivers will be on hand for interviews and autographs. There will be a table with 2008 schedules and other handy information set up at the mall show.
Numerous teams have been inquiring about renting the track before the season officially starts. If you are interested in the valuable extra track time please contact the NES office at 609-758-1900 in order to arrange dates, pricing, and groupings.
