Christmas Comes Early for Billy Pauch at New Egypt

New Egypt, NJ (July 19, 2008) - Billy Pauch of Frenchtown, NJ won his
fifth event of the season Saturday night as he captured the 30 lap
Modified feature at New Egypt Speedway. With sponsor Advantage
Financial Mortgage Bankers presenting their annual Christmas in July
program, Pauch received an early gift as race leader Bob Drayton had
his left rear tire give out with just 3 laps remaining giving Pauch
the lead.  Pauch cruised over the final 3 laps to win his second
feature in as many weeks.

"I was trying different lines each lap to try and gain on him
(Drayton), and I thought I had found something in turns three and
four," stated Pauch in victory lane, "It was a tough break for him,
He is very fast here this year and is going to win one soon."

Mark Forte, Jr. took command at the start and looked impressive early
as he led the event until lap 9. John Keller and Drayton then raced
by Forte and immediately began battling for the lead. Keller could
only hold back a very fast Drayton for 3 laps before Drayton made the
pass for the top spot. 18th starter Pauch was flying high and moved
into second on lap 13. All eyes were watching Pauch to see him run
down Drayton..but the opposite began to occur as Drayton not only
held the lead but began to open it up. With just five laps to go,
Pauch was back on the move in lapped traffic but he still could not
get closer than five car lengths to Drayton. Heartbreak then struck
for Drayton as he raced off of turn four to complete lap 27 when his
left rear tire let go. Causing him to slow and bring out the caution.
Pauch inherited the lead and went on to record the victory, the 69th
Modified win of his career at NES. Brian Godown drove a very steady
race, finishing second. Dominick Buffalino came on strong near the
end to grab third. Early race leader John Keller was fourth and Frank
Cozze rebounded back from a first lap tangle to cross the line fifth.

The new traveling Tobias Speedsters were in attendance and saw NASCAR
stars Ray Evernham and Erin Crocker in competition. Second generation
driver Andy Burkhart of Temple, PA ran down Steve Hicks from a
straightaway back to win the 20 lap non-stop event. Hicks finished
second followed by former NJ racing star and current NASCAR Sprint
Cup car owner Ray Evernham third. Willy Evernham and NY's Billy
VanInwegan rounded out the top five. Crocker, a former WoO sprint car
star, came home in seventh.

In the A-1 Racing Products Sportsman 20 lap feature, 15th starter
Rocco Infante took the lead from Ryan Forte at halfway and then held
off a late race challenge from a fast Gray Butler to record his third
win of the year. Butler and Forte crossed the line second and third
respectively trailed by point leader Willie Osmun and John Romano, Jr.

Kenny Hammond thought he had won his first Super Stock feature since
1999, but the post race tech inspection revealed that his newly
purchased car had dome pistons resulting in his disqualification.
Defending champ George Quinlan of Brick, NJ was then declared the
winner of the 20 lap event, his second of the season. Todd Cray was
second, followed by Bill Liedtka, Billy Bauer and Bob Vaccaro. Third
place finisher Steve Davis was also DQ'd for oversized wheels.

The Crate-1 Sportsman feature also saw the top two finishers, Pat
Hires and Darrell Delnero disqualified for separate post race tech
infractions. Rob Stump was declared the winner after crossing the
line in third, his first.  His teammate George Idell, Jr. was second
followed by Jon Haegele third.

Art Liedl took top honors in the SS Sprint 20 lap feature, his second
in a row and third of the season as he continues his quest for his
fifth straight championship. Ian Borden lead till the final two laps
and settled for second. Dan Biggs, Lee Taylor, Jr. and John Romano,
Jr. completed the top five.

Next Saturday night, July 26th, it will be "Friends of Mike Night" at
New Egypt Speedway. This third annual event features the friends of
Mike Rogie memorializing him by raising money to sponsor the event
and putting it all back into the night's purse for all of the
divisions. Last year Modified winner Keith Hoffman won over $7200 in
the 30 lap event. This year headlining the card will be the big-block
Modifieds in FOUR 20 lap feature events. With the added purse money
on the line, many invaders have expressed interest in making the tow
to NES next Saturday. Two drivers have already been confirmed, 2007
NES Modified champion Matt Sheppard and former Bridgeport, Grandview
and Big Diamond champ Duane Howard. Sportsman, Super Stocks, & SS
Sprints will also compete for extra $$$ as they round out the 4
division racing card. Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. with the first
green at 5:30 pm. For more information, call the speedway office at
