Xtreme Off-Road Racing Hits New Egypt
New Egypt, NJ - The 2009 season will officially start this coming Saturday afternoon when the NJXOR comes to town. April 4 will mark the inaugural event between the New Jersey Xtreme Off-Road Series and New Egypt Speedway.

Off-Road racing is predominantly a “West-Coast” style and type of racing, that is spreading towards the east coast in a hurry. These events are usually held outdoors whether it’s in the desert, rock quarries, or the woods. Occasionally, bigger races are held at indoor arenas however, space is usually limited and the racers really aren’t able to get up to speed. New Egypt Speedway is capable of offering the best of both worlds when it comes to the off-road racing scene.
New Jersey native and president of the NJXOR Jason Testa, couldn’t be more excited about bringing a different breed of racing to NJ and to the east coast for that matter. “This is the perfect place to hold this event. We don’t have to stand around out in the woods or mountains and we don’t have to be restricted to the tight confines of an indoor arena. New Egypt couldn’t be a better place to hold these events. Grandstand seating for everyone, a public address system, working restrooms and plenty of concessions. I couldn’t be more excited about bringing NJXOR here. The fans who have never seen this type of racing won‘t be disappointed. I know NES is known for its circle track racing but, Off-Road racing is just as exciting.”
Just what should the fans expect at this whole different kind of racing atmosphere? These very sophisticated off-road vehicles are a combination of jeeps, buggies, and trucks with tricked out suspensions that can handle the all-terrain course. They will race side by side over dirt jumps, while climbing rocks and boulders, and tight, twisting turns. The road course will be designed and constructed using part of the racetrack itself as well as the infield of ˝ mile facility. XOR is basically a combination of baja and rock racing and crawling.
Several drivers from around the country have already pre-registered for the April 4 event and many more are expected to be present on race day. There are two more XOR races on the NES schedule. Saturday, July 11 under the lights and Saturday, September 26 for another afternoon show. Two different classes will be in action this Saturday as there is an “Open” and a “Sportsman” division that will be competing. The pit gates will open at 8am for tech and registration while the front gates will open at 11am. Racing will start at 1pm. Adult tickets are $20 while kids 9 through 13 are $10 and children 8 and under are free. For more information you can call the track at 609-758-1900 or simply log onto www.newegyptspeedway.net.
