NES Practice set for the April 16... Opening Day, April 18

New Egypt, NJ April 12, 2009 - Mother Nature threw a wrench into New Egypt Speedway’s plans to hold an open-practice this past Saturday afternoon. Heavy rain fell all morning forcing NES management to pull the plug on their open-house practice. The test and tune session will now be held on Thursday, April 16. Pit gates will open at 2pm for tech and safety inspection. Drivers will have the use of the track from 4 to 9 pm. Thursday’s practice is open to any and all drivers and divisions wishing to shake down their equipment for the new season. There is a $20 admission cover to those who enter the pit area, while the grandstand area will be free-to-the-public. Track license applications, preferred parking spots, W-9 forms, and all the necessary paper work will be available for everyone to fill out before opening day. Pit Stop tire service will be on hand with plenty of American Racing tires to purchase and fuel will be available for the racers on Thursday.

Two days later, the New Egypt Speedway will officially swing open their gates for the 2009 season. Hamill Flooring Night will be highlighted by the BPG Tri-Track Series “Cabin Fever 40” for the big block modifieds, which will see the winner take home a cool $3,000. New Egypt track champion Billy Pauch is ready to defend his 2008 title against the likes of Keith Hoffman, Frank Cozze, Rick Laubach, Tim Tanner Jr., and a host of other modified contenders. Bridgeport standouts Jimmy Horton, Wade Hendrickson, Jimmy Chester, Ryan Watt and many others are expected to invade the newly-reconfigured half-mile oval. Modified stars Kenny Brightbill, Stewart Friesen, and Donny Radd have also expressed interest in taking part of the Saturday Tri-Track Series event.

Joining the modifieds on opening day are the Sportsman, Outlaw stocks, and the Advantage Financial-Cradle Rock Developers Rookie class. Pit Gates open on Saturday at noon for tech and inspection. Front gates will open at 3:30 pm for spectators, with hot laps starting at 5:15 pm, and racing beginning at 6pm. Adult general admission is $22, kids 12-15 are $10, and children 11 and under are free. Pit admission is $30 for NES and Bridgeport track license holders and $40 for those without a license.
