FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.

New Egypt's Friends of Mike $15G Goes to Willie Osmun

New Egypt, NJ (July 31, 2010) - Willie Osmun of Bloomsbury, NJ could
not have picked a better time to post his first career Modified
feature win as he captured the $15,000 first prize in the "Friends of
Mike" 100-lap Tri-Track Series event Saturday Night at the New Egypt
Speedway. The event, which honors the memory of longtime race fan and
friend Mike Rogie, saw Osmun take the lead from Keith Hoffman on lap
70 and then outrace invader Danny Johnson thru lapped traffic over
the final 20 laps to take the popular victory by less than one car
length.

"This really is special, the crew had the steering totally apart and
did a great job of getting it back together" stated an elated Osmun
in victory lane, "The car really hooked up after halfway & I just
want to thank my crew, they did a great job."

Richie Pratt Jr. and Gary Tomkins brought the 39 car star-studded
field to the green flag with Tomkins taking command trailed by Pratt,
Wade Hendrickson and Billy Pauch. Tomkins set the pace until Pratt
got by him on a lap 15 restart.  Pratt looked strong as he pulled
away at will over the next 30 laps as former champs Keith Hoffman and
Frank Cozze made their way to the front. By halfway Osmun, who had
started 7th and faded back as far as tenth, was on the move and had
raced into the top five. Hoffman final got the lead from Pratt on lap
52 after a ten lap side by side battle and Cozze wasted no time
charging into second. With no caution flags to slow the action since
lap 28, the crowd began to take notice of Osmun who had obviously
found something in the bottom groove of the fast surface as he raced
into 3rd on lap 60. At this point Pratt, who had fallen back to
fourth exited the event with mechanical woes. On lap 69 Osmun got
under Cozze for second and then grabbed the lead from Hoffman on the
following lap. The first yellow flag in 43 laps appeared two laps
later with Osmun showing the way over Hoffman, Cozze and now Danny
Johnson and Craig Von Dohren who started side by side on row 11.
Johnson now appeared to have the fastest car as he brought the crowd
to their feet on the restart as he immediately went to work on Cozze,
getting third on lap 77 and two laps later he was by Hoffman for
second and chasing down the leader. Johnson shadowed Osmun each lap
as they approached lapped traffic pulling alongside of him on several
occasions. Johnson's last chance came on lap 99 when they approached
two lapped cars entering turn #3 with Johnson going to the outside
and pulling even, but Osmun kept his cool and stayed on the bottom
getting by the lapped cars and holding off Johnson to take home the
largest payoff in NES Modified history by just .404 seconds. Johnson
settled for second after starting 21st, early leader Hoffman was
third, Von Dohren crossed the line fourth and Rick Laubach completed
the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Cozze, Darren McCaughey,
Dominick Buffalino, Duane Howard and Pauch.

Five Modified heats were run paying $500 to win with Wade
Hendrickson, Frank Cozze, David Van Horn, Billy Pauch and Keith
Hoffman taking top honors.

The popular Modified Match Races dubbed "Rogie's Rumble" saw 11
drivers voted on the past two weeks by the fans compete for a $1000
winner take all purse. Wade Hendrickson called out 4-time NES champ
Billy Pauch first, forcing him to have to run the table to earn his
money, which he did in crowd-pleasing fashion in the one lap races.
Pauch beat in order: Hendrickson, Bobby Drayton, Jimmy Horton, Jeff
Strunk, Craig Von Dohren, Rick Laubach, Duane Howard, Richie Pratt
Jr., David Van Horn by just half a car length, Ryan Godown in a
"rubbing is racing" showdown which gave the crowd a lot to talk
about, & Ron John Koczon. In the 2-lap Finale, Pauch and Frank Cozze
changed grooves and the lead numerous times with Pauch nipping Cozze
by a wheel at the line for the $1000 top prize.

The 20-lap Sportsman event saw Kevin Vaclavicek of New Egypt, NJ hold
off Gene Stravinsky for his second win of the season. Clay Butler was
third, followed by early race leader Brian Roemer fourth and Chad
Barney racing home fifth.  Heat wins worth $300 went to Marc Herman,
Barney, Mike Lyons and Roemer.

Point leader PJ Oliver won his third feature of the year in the 20
lap Outlaw Stock feature event. Oliver held off former champ Rich
Mongeau for the win. Johnny Carpenter settled for third after winning
3 in a row, Billy Wroble was fourth and and Scott Dugan finished
fifth. $200 Heat wins went to Wroble and Jarrod Burdge.

Next Saturday night, August 7, New Egypt Speedway presents a full

Crate-1 Sportsman, the FASTRAX Late Models and the return of the TSRS
305 Sprint Cars, beginning at 6pm. Gates open at 4pm with warm-ups
