NES Geared Up For 2011 Season
(New Egypt, NJ - Feb. 9, 2011) – With the annual awards banquet and the motorsports show now in the books, New Egypt Speedway is prepped and ready for the 2011 racing season to begin. A full schedule of events was released this past week with plenty of dates for fans to mark their calendars in 2011.
The Plumsted, NJ 7/16 mile clay oval will host 31 racing events throughout the 2011 season.  Track General Manager Danny Serrano is very inspired about the season that lies ahead.  “We are real happy with the schedule that we put together for the upcoming season.  We have a little bit of everything to offer the fans at NES.  Of course the big block modifieds will headline our weekly program with our support divisions running on an every-other-week basis.  The schedule is set, however there’s always a chance we may add a mid-week show if everything were to line up right.”
With New Egypt already having a great weekly modified car count, it looks like there will be even a few more names added to the 2011 roster.  “We’ve had plenty of guys calling all winter long, expressing their interest in becoming a regular at NES,” Serrano pointed out.  “I’m confident that you’ll see a field of 40 modifieds each week at New Egypt this season.  I also think we could see a record number of different winners in 2011.”
Serrano is also excited about the support divisions that round out New Egypt’s weekly racing program.  “Our Sportsman guys are great and they put on a good show each and every time that they race.  It looks like we’ll have a strong field somewhere in the mid-30’s regarding car the count.  Our Crate-1 division has blossomed into a great division and their car count should mirror the Sportsman’s.  The Outlaw Stock class will definitely have some new blood this season, as many new drivers have called the track this off-season to confirm their 2011 plans.  The FASTRAK Late Model division has also grown as several familiar faces are returning to the division.  I’ve talked to quite a few drivers that formerly ran Super Stocks and they’re now ready to go late model racing.  We like this division and know that it’s just a matter of time before we have a full field in this quickly-growing class.  The Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks will join the modifieds one week while the Crate-1s and Late Models will take their place the following week.”
Open cock-pit lovers will get a taste of plenty of different types of race cars this season.  The Rislone URC Sprint Cars will return for their annual 4th of July weekend appearance.  A second date has been added for URC as they will now share the spotlight with the Modifieds on September 24th which has been dubbed ‘The September Square Off’.  This show will be a fan’s delight as the URC Sprints will join the Modifieds as they compete in Twin 20s for the track championship.  The AMSOIL USAC Sprint Cars will make their popular return on Thursday, June 2 as they will join the Modifieds for a mid-week double header.  The ARDC Midgets will fly around NES on Tuesday, August 16th as they too will join the Modifieds for another mid-week double header.   The TSRS 305 Sprint Cars will make 11 appearances throughout the 2011 campaign.  Well over 30 drivers have already registered with the ever-so-quickly growing series.  Look for the Tobias Speedstrs to also make some Sunday appearances as a Sunday series is currently in the works with Toby Tobias Jr. and Speedway Entertainment.
The 14th season opener will take place on Saturday, March 26 in grand style as the Race of Champions Dirt Modified & Sportsman Tours will invade New Egypt.  The ‘Cabin Fever 60’ for the modifieds will pay a sweet $5,000 to win.  However, if a driver takes the ‘Cabin Fever Challenge’ and wins they will start the new season off with a cool $10,000.
The following week NES will host their annual open practice for all divisions on Saturday, April 2nd.    Then on April 9th NES have their first point show of the season.  New Egypt’s premier even remains the ‘Friends of Mike’ 100-Lap race which will take place on Saturday, July 30 paying a whopping $15,000 to the winner for the second straight year.  The 2nd Annual John Romano Memorial 84-Lapper will take place on Labor Day Monday, September 5.  The winner of this prestigious Sportsman event will take home at least $5,000 once again.  Some other important dates to remember: Modified Twin 20s highlight April 30, Tribute to the Military takes place Memorial Day Weekend May 28, Fireworks & Modified Match Races on July 2, Rocktoberfest falls on October 15.  Every race night has a theme whether it be Banner Night, Powder Puff Night, or Mechanics Night, there’s always something going on for the fans, drivers, and crew to take part in.
VP Race Fuels has been named the new official racing fuel of New Egypt Speedway and we be sold on the premises.  VP provides a quality fuel that the New Egypt competitors can count on and use to maximize their performances.  “We’re proud to be a part of New Egypt Speedway in 2011,” VP representative Jim Kelly acknowledged.  “They have a first class facility with great car counts.  We’re just glad VP can play a part of their success.”
American Racer will once again be the official track tire at the New Egypt Speedway for the 2011 racing campaign.  The extremely popular American Racer Cup will return for its second season at New Egypt as well.  “I think what American Racer and Lias Tire are doing for short track racing here in the northeast is just awesome.  It gives the our drivers something to shoot for other than our regular track championship which pays $10,000,” offered track general manager Danny Serrano.
Also returning to the scene will be Pit Stop Tire Service (908-996-7288) which is owned and operated by four-time Modified track champion Billy Pauch. Pauch will sell the American Racing tires at the track as well as from his shop in Frenchtown, New Jersey.  Mark Blackwell who owns and operates Metal Fab returns to provide his services as the track parts vendor for the 2011 season at New Egypt.
Advantage Financial and Cradlerock Developers have both been a staple at New Egypt Speedway sponsoring the Rookie Division for the last decade.  Popular Sportsman drivers Mike Lyons and Gene Stravinsky will once again make sure that the 2011 rookie crop will have something to shoot for in their 12-race season before graduating to the Sportsman or Crate-1 ranks.
New Egypt Speedway will be participating in the 4rd Annual Dirt Track Heroes and Car Show at the Phillipsburg Mall Show which is being held from March 6 to March 12. Wednesday, March 9 at 6pm some of the NES drivers will be on hand for interviews and autographs.  There will be a table with 2011 schedules and other handy information set up at the mall show.
This year’s “Winter Jam” is just two short weeks ahead.  The Jam will be held at the Cream Ridge Golf Course on Friday, February 25. Cream Ridge is located seven miles north of the track on Route 539. Pit license, pit stall spot, preferred spectator parking, and season pass applications can all be filled out and purchased when the doors open at 5pm on Friday. Schedules will be available and the NES staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the upcoming season. Food and drinks will be available for every one on hand.
