News From New Egypt Speedway
Rt. 539, Plumstead Twp, NJ Contact: Danny Serrano 609-758-1900 New Egypt's 'Cabin Fever 60' is Heating Up New Egypt, NJ - In less than two weeks the gates of New Egypt Speedway will finally swing open to start the 2011 racing campaign. The Race of Champions Dirt Modified and Sportsman Tour will visit the New Jersey oval for only the second time in the series history. The Modifieds will race 60 laps for $5,000. However, many of the drivers are seeking the $10,000 prize that awaits them once they have signed up for the 'Cabin Fever Challenge'. The Sportsman competitors will also have a nice pay day in the first Sportsman event anywhere in the Northeast. The winner of the 40-lap event will take home $1,000 but just like the modifieds if they take on the challenge, the winner will leave New Egypt with a respectable $2,000 check as the victor's share will be doubled. Cray Motorsports has recently signed on to be New Egypt Speedway's official opening day sponsor. Always a supporter of NES, Cray Motorsports will be represented by Clay Butler of Milford, NJ. Last year Butler finished 3rd in the overall Sportsman point standings and came within two laps of winning the prestigious John Romano Memorial Race which offered $5,000 to the winner. The opening day sponsor is extremely involved in all forms of racing throughout the East Coast. Currently Cray Motorsports races in the NHRA Northeast Division. They own 2 mini-cup cars that are raced in Virginia and North Carolina, a legend car that competes in Charlotte, NC while also being affiliated with Hendrick Motorsports, and a dirt modified that competes at Ray Evernham's East Lincoln Speedway. The name Cray is also synonymous with winning championships at NES. Todd Cray won back to back Super Stock titles in 2008 and 2009 and lays claim to 12 victories before the division was disbanded in 2009. Todd's cousin David will lead the Cray gang into New Egypt on opening day with plenty of giveaways for the fans. Bicycles, fishing poles, and an array of other giveaways will be given out to the fans courtesy of Cray Motorsports. ASI Racewear will also be a sponsor on opening day as they will provide two cash bonuses for the Crate-1 competitors. The Sportsman RoC Tour allows the Crate-1 Division to compete with a weight break. ASI has posted two separate $100 awards to the first two Crate-1 racers across the finish line on March 26. Rules and other pertinent information have been posted on www.newegyptspeedway.net as well as www.rocdirt.com. NES is proud to announce that the Radical Desgin Group will sponsor the Modified Re-draw at intermission. Radical Design has always supplied colorful frisbees for the drivers to autograph and toss into the crowd. Race of Champions entries are coming in by the day for this highly anticipated double header event. Drivers from NJ, NY, PA, and DE have already filed an entry form for opening day. Pit Gates open at 9am for 'Early Bird Inspection'. General Admission gates will open at 2pm with hot laps beginning at 3pm and the first heat race set to take place at 4pm. Pit entry will be $35 no licenses required, Adult Admission is $25, Seniors and Military $23, Students 12-15 years of age are $10 and as always children 11 and under are free.
