World Racing Group Sends Deepest Condolences To Marotta Family

Weedsport, NY – October 21, 2009 - Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

World Racing Group and DIRTcar Racing Northeast Region officials extend their deepest sympathies to the family of long-time DIRTcar Public Address Announcer Joe Marotta, whose grandson, Joseph James Marotta, passed away on Sunday. 

“Joe is like family and that’s the way everyone here in the Northeast took the news of his grandson,” remarked Cory Reed, General Manager of both Cayuga County Fair Speedway and Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, where Joe continues to man the microphone throughout the season. “Everyone is saddened and our thoughts and prayers remain with Joe at this time.”

Joseph James, 5, passed away on October 18, 2009 at Dayton (OH) Children's Medical Center. He was born May 4, 2004 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Joseph and Serese Marotta. 

“Our hearts go out to Joe and his family,” said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. “He’s such a big part of our team and we’re saddened at his family’s loss.”

Funeral service will be Friday, October 23, 2009 at Riverview Baptist Church, 7237 Martz-Paulin Rd., Franklin, OH 45005 with Rev. Jim Mousie. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday Oct. 22 at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 North Main St., Springboro, Ohio 45066. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to National City Bank c/o The Joseph James Marotta Fund, National City Bank, 1490 W. Dorothy Lane, Kettering, Ohio 45409.
