STEVE SMITH NAMED LIVING LEGEND GUEST OF HONOR FOR
THUNDER SERIES OPENER ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, MAY 20

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presented by Lee
Myles Transmissions will kick off its' twentieth season at the one-third
mile Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA on Wednesday night, May
20. In celebration of the twentieth anniversary season, Steve Smith
will be on hand as the Thunder on the Hill Living Legend Guest of Honor.
Smith of Hanover, PA won the inaugural Thunder Series event featuring
the 410 sprint cars on August 7, 1990. Steve Smith has won 266
sprint car victories with 150 of those wins taking place at the Lincoln
Speedway along with three World of Outlaw "A" Main wins, three World of
Outlaw Preliminary wins and seventeen All Star Circuit of Champions
feature wins. Smith returned to Grandview Speedway in 1991 and scored
his second Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event, winning two of the
first three Thunder Series shows presented. Smith will be on hand for
interviews and a meet and greet with fans on Wednesday night, May 20.

The 2009 Thunder Series opener will feature the Keystone Cup 410 Sprint
Series along with the 358 Modifieds. The 410 sprints will compete in
time trials a series of qualifying events and a 35 lap feature. The
358 Modifieds is an open competition event that will offer heat race
qualifying and a 25 lap feature event.
An all star field of drivers will fill the Grandview Speedway pits to
include Fred Rahmer, Lance Dewease, Todd Shaffer, Stevie Smith, and Greg
Hodnett. In the modified ranks look for Doug Manmiller, Duane Howard,
Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk, Doug Hoffman and Kevin Hirthler to make-up
the class of the field. Advance tickets for the May 20 Keystone Cup
410 Sprint Speed Week Series and 358 Modifieds Double-header are on sale
at this time. Adult tickets are $20, Children 6-11 are $5 and Children

On Tuesday night, June 2 the always exciting USAC Wingless Sprints and
ARDC Midgets will be the headline show for race two of the Thunder on
the Hill Racing Series of 2009 at Grandview. The USAC Sprints will
compete in a pair of twenty lap feature events plus qualifying as the
ARDC Wingless Midgets battle the high banks in a series of qualifying
leading up to their twenty-five lap feature event. The Living Legend
Guest of Honor on this night will be well know car owner Ken Brenn Sr.
who also served two terms as President of ARDC and promoted midget races
at the Grandview Speedway. He also took his promoting talents to the
East Windsor and Bridgeport Speedways for a short time. After leaving
the midgets, the Brenn name became quite popular as a modified car owner
in the northeast as well.

Thunder returns to the Hill on Tuesday night, June 30 for the 410 Sprint
Pennsylvania Speed Week Series and 358 Modifieds Double Header.
Popular sprint car driver Lynn Paxton will be on hand this night as the
Thunder on the Hill Living Legend Guest of Honor. Race time is 7:30 PM.

There is plenty more being planned for the Living Legends of Dirt Track
Racing at Grandview. On Wednesday night, July 15 the Thunder on the
Hill Racing Series will present the Triple Crown Thunder Thriller to
include the 358 Modifieds, URC Sprints and ARDC Midgets. URC and ARDC
are the oldest traveling organizations in racing and we would like to
contact as many of their former drivers as possible to be invited to
this special event. With the 358 Modifieds also on the program, we
would like to do the same for the past modified drivers at Grandview.
Past modified champions, feature winners and drivers who completed at
least one full year with the Grandview Modifieds, URC Sprints and ARDC
Midgets are asked to contact Bob Miller by calling 443-513-4456.
Please leave your name, division and a phone number so we can get back
to you. This should be an awesome night of current day racing with many
Living Legends of our sport also in attendance.

and 358 Modifieds Double-header are on sale at this time. Adult tickets
are $20, Children 6-11 are $5 and Children under 6 will be admitted for
