RAIN STOPS THUNDER ON THE HILL 2009 SEASON FINALE AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

A big day of racing was planned for today at the Grandview Speedway with the season finale of the 20th Anniversary season of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presented by Lee Myles Transmissions. A blanket of rain moved into the Bechtelsville, PA area on Thursday with rain fall through Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the forecast is for rain all day today as well as Sunday, with a 70% to 100% chance of rain the balance of the weekend. With the wet grounds and unfavorable weather in the area, the Grandview Thunder 5-25's and House of Thunder racing program is cancelled for today. With the numerous special events scheduled over the next three weekends, we could not find a open date to reschedule this show and do not wish to have a date conflict with other speedways.

The 2009 Thunder on the Hill Series presented five events with Daryn Pittman and MeMe DeSantis winning the 410 Sprint/358 Modified opener on May 21. The USAC Wingless Sprints invaded Grandview on June 3 with Jesse "The Rocket" Hockett taking the win in the fifty lap $6,000 to win feature as Steve Buckwalter won the ARDC wingless midget feature.

The Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week Series took over the "hill" on June 30 with Chad Kemenah taking the win as Duane Howard was the winner of the 358 Modified feature event. The Thunder Series presented their first Triple Crown Night of Racing with victories going to Mike Gular in the modifieds, Josh Weller in the URC Sprints and Steve Buckwalter in the ARDC wingless midgets.

One of the most anticipated shows of the year took place on August 13 when the World of Outlaws Late Models and the Big Block Modifieds stormed the "hill". Tim Fuller was the Late Model feature winner that night, sharing the podium with modified winner Brett Hearn.

2009 concluded the twentieth season of Thunder on the Hill at the Grandview Speedway, a co-promoted racing series between Grandview Speedway owner Bruce Rogers and special events organizer Bob Miller. Plans are already being made for the 2010 Thunder Series.
