THUNDER ON THE HILL BRINGS THE STARS TO YOU. . . .
ROAD RAGE, WITH 800 HP BIG BLOCK WEAPONS TO INVADE GRANDVIEW FOR 13th ANNUAL TRAFFIC JAM ON TUESDAY, JUNE 15
A traffic jam is often the cause of road rage, so expect more of the same when the Grandview Speedway plays host to the Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series on Tuesday night, June 15.
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will present the 13th running of the Annual 100 lap TRAFFIC JAM. One hundred laps on the demanding Grandview Speedway high banked clay oval is sure to trigger some short tempers and that could result in "road rage" using an 800 horse-power weapon, the high powered, loud and furious big block modifieds. The best of the best in the Northeast modified field will be on the hill for this one. Time Trials along with qualifying events will lead up to the 100 lap Traffic Jam paying $6,000 to the winner. Also on the program will be an invitation for the sportsman. Race time is 7:30 PM.
Past winners of this prestigious and historical event include Brett Hearn (2009, 2007, 2002, 1998), Billy Decker (2008, 2003), Alan Johnson (2006), Tim Fuller (2005), Tim McCreadie (2005, 2001), Frank Cozze (2000) and Jimmy Horton in 1999. Local favorites in chase of a Traffic Jam victory include Duane Howard, Ryan Godown, Craig VonDohren, Billy Pauch and Doug Manmiller just to name a few.
Defending Rite Aid 200 winner Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, NY has won at just about every track, except Grandview. The "hill" has never been good to the twenty-eight year old Sheppard, but he's hoping to change his luck on June 15.
Other drivers following the Super DIRTcar Series include Billy Decker the current point leader, Dale Planck, Michael Storms, Pat Ward, Billy Dunn, Justin Haers, Danny Johnson and Stewart Friesen are some of the expected entries.
Adult admission prices for the 13th Annual Traffic Jam are $22, children 6-11 $10 and our little friends under the age of 6 will be admitted for free.
With the increasing fuel prices, the 21st season of Thunder on the Hill is bringing high priority events of dirt track racing to your door step, the Grandview Speedway. No need to travel to the mid-west to see USAC Wingless Sprints, no need to travel to New York to see the DIRTcar Modified Stars. We bring the best to you including 410 Sprints, World of Outlaws Late Models, URC Sprints, ARDC Wingless Midgets, Sportsman, ROC Modifieds and Sportsman.
