USAC NATIONAL SPRINT SERIES PLANS EASTERN SWING OPENING AT GRANDVIEW ON TUESDAY, JUNE 1
Hold on to your seats! Four nights of wingless sprint car racing is coming to the east when the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint cars make their fourth annual tour, returning to Pennsylvania and, adding a stop in New Jersey.
The USAC wingless sprints will open the Eastern Storm at the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, June 1 then travel to the Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday night, June 2, New Egypt Speedway on Thursday, June 3 and closing out the tour on Friday night, June 4 at the Big Diamond Raceway.
Wingless sprint car racing is just about as "extreme" as you can get on a dirt track. There is three wide racing, slide jobs and just a little wheel banging that will find you slipping back, deeper into your seat as they rim-ride the high groove of the track.
"USAC's rich Eastern heritage will again be revisited when the AMSOIL National Sprint cars return to contest this year's "Eastern Storm." When USAC Sprint racing started in 1956 there was actually an Eastern Sprint Car Series, five years before the National Series began. The champions of this series were legendary and set the tone for USAC competition in the East. So much of USAC's rich history is linked to Eastern racing. It's great to think this great tradition continues to this day. Tracks in the East formed the very backbone for USAC in the early days and produced some of our best racing ever. There's no reason to believe that this year's Eastern Storm will be any different and we look forward to the many lasting memories which will result. Enjoy watching the finest open-wheel talent compete on some of America's most competitive race tracks", commented Dick Jordan USAC VP of Communications.
