410 SPRINTS & SPORTSMAN HEAD TO GRANDVIEW. . . .
COUNTDOWN BEGINS FOR THUNDER SERIES OPENER WEDNESDAY, MAY 26
The 410 sprint cars are making a return visit to the Grandview Speedway on Wednesday night, May 26 and if you've never seen this guys on the hill, you don't know what you're missing. In all the various divisions of race cars that take part in the Thunder on the Hill events, these are absolutely the fastest, turning the one-third mile high-banked oval in the eleven second time bracket.
This is not just a 410 sprint car show, but the opening event of the Keystone Cup Speed Week Series offering a lucrative purse which is complimented with a $5,000 first place prize. The best drivers will be on hand to kickoff the opening event with expected entries to include defending Thunder Series Champion Greg Hodnett, Fred Rahmer, Lance Dewease, Brian Montieth, Chad Layton, Mark Smith, Doug Esh, Darryn Pittman and Justin Henderson just to name a few. Also on the program will be the Sportsman as they compete in qualifying and a 20 lap feature event. This will be their first ever visit on a Thunder Series event.
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event on Wednesday night, May 26 will begin at 7:30 PM. Gates will open at 5 PM with warm-ups getting underway at 7 PM. Adult general admission is $20, Children 6-11 $5 and under six will be admitted for free. The pit fee on May 26 will be $25 and a license is not necessary.
A special attraction for Wednesday night, May 26 is a visit by the BFP Specialty and Joe Adams Lettering Young Guns. Sportsman driver Young Guns include Jared Umbenhauer, Mike Weinert and Mike Lawski along with 358 Modified Young Guns Billy Pauch Jr., Mike Gular, Sean Merkel, Brad Meissmer, Kevin Albert, Dan Nicholas, AJ DeSantis, Caroll Hines III, Kyle Follweiller, Jordan Umbenhauer and Jon Kellner, Jr. Expect to see these future stars in a pre-race meet and greet session behind the grandstands. Come early and collect the many different autograph cards.
Jim Gallagher of COMDIAL Telephone Communications, known for adding fun to the Thunder events will have a new twist this year. Jim will toss ten "bouncy balls" to the crowd and they will also include a $10 WaWa Gift Card.
Fans are encourage to arrive early and enjoy the pre-race activities that will gain include the Inside/Out Promotion. Fans may register at the Will Call Window to watch warm-ups from inside turn four. This view offers a new perspective of watching the 410 sprints work the one-third mile Grandview Speedway. Don't be surprised as you feel the ground shake under your feet when the green flag falls.
