410 SPRINT KEYSTONE CUP SERIES TO OPEN WEDENSDAY NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
Could a new one lap track record be set at Grandview Speedway on Wednesday night? The powerful 410 sprint car will invade the "hill" on Wednesday night to open the Keystone Cup Sprint Series, kicking off six night of racing at six different tracks. This event will also mark the ninety-second event of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series, celebrating their twenty-first anniversary season. With time trials on the card, the race against the clock always proves interesting.
The current one lap track record was established by Jeff Shepard back on May 21, 2008, turning the one-third mile with a time of 11.433. With that time set two years ago, it's likely that a new record could go into the books. Fred Rahmer, Brian Montieth, Lance Dewease or defending Thunder Series Champion Greg Hodnett are definitely just a few of the drivers to watch
The 410 sprints have been a standing tradition on the "hill" and this special event will showcase time trials, qualifying events and a $5,000 to win 35 lap feature that will make up the sprint car portion of the show. The sportsman stock cars will make their first Thunder appearance, competing in a series of qualifying events leading up to a 20 lap feature. The sportsman event is open to all competitors and will follow the Big Diamond Sportsman rules.
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event on Wednesday night, May 26 will begin at 7:30 PM. Gates will open at 5 PM with warm-ups getting underway at 7 PM. Adult general admission is $20, Children 6-11 $5 and under six will be admitted for free. The pit fee on May 26 will be $25 and a license is not necessary.
