GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY IS FIRST STOP ON USAC EASTERN STORM SWING TUESDAY NIGHT, JUNE 1

The Grandview Speedway will be the first stop when the USAC Eastern Storm Racer's Challenge presented by RS, EH&D, Newcrete Products, DHA and Sherwin Williams head east.  The popular four race swing will open at Grandview on Tuesday night, June 1 as part of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presented by COMDIAL.

The excitement of wingless sprint car racing is second to none.  Without the top wing that is sported today by most sprint cars, the wingless sprints allow race fans a clear view of the driver as they fight the wheel in the heat of the battle.    The USAC wingless sprints, also known for their "slide jobs", a racing slang descriptor of an on the track pass. . . . . .  with just a touch of attitude.     If you've never seen wingless sprint car racing, you don't know what you're missing.  And let's not overlook the second division on the program, the wingless ARDC Midgets.

Current AMSOIL National Sprint Tour point leader Damion Gardner of Concord, CA will lead all competitors to the "hill"  for this "wild and wooly" event.   Other expected entries include Jerry Coons Jr. of Tucson, AZ,  Levi Jones of Olney, IL, Bryan Clauson of Noblesville, IN,  Tracy Hines New Castle, IN,  Robert Ballou, Rocklin, CA,  Dave Darland, Lincoln, IN, Shane Cottle, Kokomo, IN, Ricky Williams, Canton, OH and Brady Short of Bedford, IN.    410 sprint driver Johnny Mackison will be in the field as well as local URC feature winners Josh Weller and Mark Bitner and 2009 URC rookie  Jonathan Swanson.

In the ARDC Midget ranks, look for favorites Eric Heydenreich, Drew Heistand, Bruce and Steve Buckwalter, Brett Arndt, Frank Polimeda, Trevor Kobylarz, Nick Wean, Stephanie Stevens and Tracy Readinger just to name a few.   The racing with the ARDC  midgets is outstanding since the organization went wingless several years ago.

Both the USAC wingless sprints and ARDC wingless midgets will compete in a series of qualifying that will get underway at 7:30 PM.  The highlight of the night will be the 40 lap $6,000 to win AMSOIL USAC feature event and the 25 lap ARDC wingless midget feature.

Adult admission prices are $25, Children 6-11  $10 and children under six will be admitted for free.

Special Attraction at Grandview:     Round of Wedge Productions is proud to present local guitarist, Greg Ort, in concert on Tuesday June 1st at the Grandview Speedway, beginning his performance at 5 PM.    Greg will also perform the National Anthem at the start of the evening's event.
Guitarist Greg Ort "Goes to Eleven" in the hard rock/heavy metal world.  He brings rock guitar back to its roots by way of modern technique.  In a computer generated world, Greg gives recorded and live music the soul that it truly takes to draw the listener in. Drawing from influences such as Ted Nugent, Steve Vai, Greg Howe and Paul Gilbert (think '80's shred kings) to Blues masters like Albert Collins, Albert King, and Johnny Winter. His live sets include songs from rock to blues to country along with his own powerhouse originals, all set in a classic "Power Trio" rock format. One fan said "He's a natural".
Greg's played many area bars, clubs and music halls including BB King's Blues Club in New York City, L'Amours in Brooklyn, The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ and Crocodile Rock in Allentown, PA.
