This is not just another sprint car race.
The nationally known stars of USAC will open the 6th Annual AMSOIL Non-Wing Eastern Storm and it all gets underway at the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, June 5 to mark the opening event of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. The USAC non-wing sprints will join the ARDC non-wing midgets is this always crowd pleasing double header. Gates open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM. In the event of rain, Wednesday night, June 6 will be the rain date. The Eastern Storm will then move to the New Egypt Speedway on Thursday night, June 7 when USAC non-wing sprints team up with the Big Block modifieds. The five previous USAC Eastern Storm events at Grandview were won by Levi Jones in 2007 and again in 2010. The late Jesse Hockett won the Grandview events in 2008 and 2009 as “The Beast” Bobby East was the winner in 2011. If you talk to any race fans who have seen a USAC non-wing sprint show at Grandview, they will echo the comments that just watching time trials is worth the price of admission. . It's just something you have to see to believe. Nothing beats the sound, sight and thrill of watching a USAC non-wing sprint car navigate the non-forgiving one-third mile high banked oval in Bechtelsville, PA . You’ll see side-by-side-by-side racing, some wheel banging and cars bouncing off the boiler-plate, all part of the normal scene when USAC invades the Hill. CnB Mushrooms has posted $100 in cash for fast time of the night.
On Thursday night, June 7, the Eastern Storm will head to the New Egypt Speedway to team up in a double-header with the Big Block Modifieds. The USAC sprints will chase a $6,000 payday in the 30 lap feature as the Big Block Modifieds shoot for $3,000 to win in their 30 lap main event.
USAC drivers expected to take part include Jon Stanbrough of Avon, Indiana who was one of the first to enter the Eastern Storm along with Bobby East of Brownsburg, IN who is the defending winner of the Jesse Hockett Classic at the Grandview Speedway.
