THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES
NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES PRESENTS. . . . .
15TH ANNUAL PIONEER POLE BUILDINGS TRAFFIC JAM FOR MODIFIEDS TUESDAY, JULY 31ST , $5,000 TO WIN, $1,000 FOR 10TH, $300 TO TAKE THE GREEN
The long standing TRAFFIC JAM for Big Block Modifieds will return to the “hill” on Tuesday night, July 31.
Sponsored by Pioneer Pole Buildings, the roar of the Big Block Modifieds will rock the Grandview Speedway for the fifteenth annual presentation of the PPB TRAFFIC JAM, also, the “Prelude to the BPG 76’er”. The 60 lap Race of Champions Modifieds will be racing for a rich purse offering $5,000 to the winner, $1,000 for a tenth place finish and $300 just to start the main event. Heat races and a consolation will be the ordering of qualifying leading up to the fifteenth annual running of the PPB Traffic JAM. The additional posted payoff for the modifieds is guaranteed to drivers who pre-enter on or before July 25th. Drivers may pre-enter (no entry fee) by calling 443 513 4456. This event will also mark the final mid-week opportunity for drivers to prep and dial in for the Saturday, September 15 BPG Racing $50,000 to win Freedom 76. The sportsman will join the Tuesday, July 31 NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series PPB Double-header. Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.
In the fourteen year history of the TRAFFIC JAM, there is a long list of winners including Brett Hearn who won the initial event back in 1998. Since that time, Hearn won the Traffic Jam in 2002, 2007, and 2009. Other Traffic Jam winners include Jimmy Horton (1999),, Frank Cozze (2000), Tim McCreadie (2001 and 2004), Billy Decker (2003 and 2008), Tim Fuller (2005) and Alan Johnson (2006). Two of the most dramatic PPB Traffic Jam events took place in 2010 when Craig VonDohren charged from the consolation to take the lead of the Traffic Jam in the closing laps and score the win and, last year, when Jeff Strunk won in a door-banging battle with Duane Howard.
Also a special treat for the PPB TRAFFIC JAM is the annual FanFest, where race fans may come out onto the speedway to meet the drivers and get up close to the cars just before the starting field is sent off to take the green flag in the 60 lap modified championship event.
Stewart Friesen has one Thunder victory but has never won the TRAFFIC JAM, a win he would like to add to his long list of accomplishments. Billy Decker, a two time winner eyes this event as a $5,000 bonus in preparation for the BPG Freedom 76. Jimmy Horton, Ryan Godown, Billy Pauch and Billy Pauch Jr are among the early entries including Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Meme DeSantis, Richie Pratt, and Craig VonDohren.
The purse is very attractive for a 60 lap run, not only boasting $5,000 to the winner, but an almost unheard of $1,000 for a tenth place finish and $300 being offered to start the main event. The sportsman will also be on the program with heat race qualifying leading up to the $1,000 to win 25 lap feature.
Pioneer Pole Buildings is the event sponsor of the 105th event of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. Lee Myles Transmissions and Galco Business Communications are sponsors of the fan friendly activities including the nightly visit by Joe the Pizza Dude.
For advance tickets, please call 443 513 4456 and be sure to leave your name, phone number and number of tickets you will need for Tuesday, July 31. You may pick-up your tickets and pay for them on race night after 4 PM at the Will Call Window.
