RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES
NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series continues. . . .
Pioneer Pole Buildings Proudly Presents. . . . .
THE PRELUDE TO THE BPG 76’er NEARS WITH THE 15TH ANNUAL TRAFFIC JAM TO TAKE PLACE AT GRANDVIEW TUESDAY NIGHT, JULY 31
Some may call it a high paid warm-up or practice, others will still refer to it as the Traffic JAM but come Tuesday night, July 31st at Grandview Speedway, Pioneer Pole Buildings will present “The Prelude to the BPG 76’er”, a $5,000 to win 60 lap Race of Champions feature for Modifieds.
This event, will come up just sixteen laps short of the fast approaching $50,000 to win BPG Freedom 76 at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night, September 15. With that said, drivers from near and far plan to take part in the Tuesday night, July 31 Prelude to the 76’er. This event not only offers a hefty $5,000 first place prize, but an amazing $1,000 payoff for tenth and $300 just to start the 60 lap ROC sanctioned modified event.
The July 31st event is part of the 2012 NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series and marks the 105th Thunder event since the series started in 1990. Drivers planning to compete in the Pioneer Pole Buildings Prelude to the 76’er are required to pre-enter to be eligible for the increased feature payoff as well as the various bonus options available. There is no entry fee, but drivers must pre-enter by calling Bob Miller at 443 513 4456. Drivers shall leave their name, car number and contact phone number.
Another bonus available is a $500 cash reward that will go to the highest finishing small block in the feature event. Joe the Pizza Dude is posting $100 to the highest finishing Grandview driver currently not in the top twenty in points. Lee Myles Transmissions is posting an American Racer right rear tire to the highest finishing Grandview regular in each heat race. All this and more is expected to be added but drivers must pre-enter.
Gates will open at 5 PM with heat race qualifying getting underway at 7:30 PM. The double-header program will showcase the Race of Champions Modifieds and Sportsman. Both divisions will compete in heat race qualifying and a consolation leading up to the 60 lap Prelude to the 76’er. The nightcap event will be a 25 lap sportsman feature paying $1,000 to the winner.
A few of the d rivers that have already pre-entered for the Tuesday, July 31 Prelude include Pat Ward, Larry Wight, Billy Decker, Stew Friesen, Danny Johnson, Doug Manmiller, Rick Laubach, Danny Creeden, Ryan Godown, Brett Hearn, Duane Howard, Craig VonDohren, Danny Heiber, Bobby Varin and Brad Missimer.
In 2010 and 2011 Grandview drivers Jeff Strunk and Craig VonDohren won this event beating the New York and New Jersey invasion of talent. One driver clearly looking to be a favorite in this event is red hot Duane Howard. In 2012, Howard has dominated the weekly racing events at Grandview Speedway and would certainly like to add his name to the list of previous Traffic Jam winners.
