Three divisions and heats for all will make-up the MODS at the MADHOUSE, the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series season finale at Grandview Speedway, Saturday night, October 17.    The tradition of this October Thunder event started in the year 2000 but this year there will be a treat for this always popular Halloween Party on the Hill.

For starters, the program will have just three divisions that include the 358 Mods/Big Block Modifieds, the Sportsman and TSRS Sprints with all three divisions competing in heat race qualifying events that will lead up to a 40 lap 358 Mod/Big Block Modified feature, a 25 lap Sportsman feature and a 25 lap TSRS Sprint feature.   Gates will open at 4 PM with heat race qualifying getting underway at 6 PM.

The “Mods at the Madhouse” will go 40 laps with a treat of $5,000 going to the winner -- if pre-entered, $1,000 for tenth and $500 just to start the twenty-four car field.  If the winner is not pre-entered their winners share will be $4,000.   Other treats are being gathered as we speak.  This is a show that is sure “to grab you”!

For the “Mods at the Madhouse”, they will have an open draw for heats with the top twelve heat race qualifiers taking part in a re-draw for the top twelve starting positions in the feature event.   Following the top twelve starters, the field will line-up straight up based off the heat race and consolation finish.

The 358 Modified weight rule will be 2,275 lbs. if you are running gas, 2,350 lbs. if running alcohol.  For the Big Block Modifieds, the weight is 2,500 lbs.   Competitors may use American Racer tires, 33 or harder on the front, left rear is 44 or harder and right rear 48 or harder.  Drivers may also compete on Hoosier tires, D300 or harder.  No mixing of tires, you must run all four American Racers or all four Hoosiers and any track stamp is welcome.     Both the 358 Modifieds and Big Block Modifieds shall follow the standard body rules and sail panels are not permitted.

There is no entry fee and no fee to draw.  Competitors may call 443-513-4456 to pre-enter by October 10 and you will earn $5,000 if you’re the winner.    There will be double file restarts up to lap thirty-eight and if needed, single file restarts with two laps to go.    Some additional Halloween treats are being arranged at this time.

“Bruce Rogers and I have put together a fun Halloween themed promotion and an event that spreads the wealth throughout the field”, stated event co-promoter Bob Miller.

The Sportsman are also on the schedule with full heat race qualifying, a consolation and a 25 lap feature event.  Sportsman rules are American Racer: Fronts 33 or harder, Left Rear 44, Right Rear 48 or harder – any track stamp is permitted.    The 25 lap sportsman feature will pay $1,300 to the winner. The Sportsman weight rule will follow the weekly rules, 2,450 with steel wheels, 2,500 with aluminum wheels, 2,375 for  604 Crate Sportsman and 2,375 for 602 Crate Sportsman with aluminum wheels.

The TSRS Sprints will be part of the program, also competing in heats, a “B” Main and a 25 lap feature event.

A complete schedule of events will be provided but the order of features will be the Modifieds, Sportsman and Sprints.

Race fans young and old are encouraged to dress in costume to be eligible for special Halloween treats, a tradition of this event for many, many years.  The Halloween Party remains a big part of this event.
