For 2008, Brett is again behind the wheel the combined Madsen Motorsports and B.H. Racing Enterprises, Inc. No. 20 DIRTcar Modified. Brett and his championship team is competing in the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series, other major DIRTcar NorthEast races, and selected independent events. Wentworth Custom Homes of Oneida, New York is again the team’s primary sponsor.
Brett is also driving the 4-Star Racing Small-Block Modified weekly at Albany-Saratoga Speedway and in major DIRTcar NorthEast and independent Small-Block races. At Orange County Fair Speedway, look for Brett in the No. 74 Big-Block Modified owned by Steve Hastings and Joe Knoth.

And the record speaks for itself: To date in the 2008 racing season, Brett has won 18 feature races. His career record includes 752 feature event races, placing him among the all-time winners in all forms of motorsports. Brett has won at 47 different tracks in ten states and two Canadian provinces. More than 40 percent---304---of Brett’s wins have been in races of 50 laps or more. He’s also taken home 69 track and series championships, the most recent his sixth Mr. DIRTcar NorthEast Modified title.
Brett is the all-time winner at Orange County Fair Speedway (Middletown, New York) with 291 victories---170 Modified, 119 Small-block Modified, and 2 URC sprint car---and 23 Orange County point championships---15 Modified and 8 Small-Block Modified.
This year’s accomplishments include scoring his 100th Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRTcar Series win, registering his 300th Small-Block Modified victory, and becoming the all-time feature winner (92 victories) at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
2008 marks Brett’s 34th year in the sport. The former high school quarterback began racing in 1975 at age 16, too young to qualify for a New Jersey driver’s license. His won his first feature race in 1976, his first Small-Block Modified championships the following year, advanced to the Big-Block Modified division in 1978, and in the early 1980s began racing full time. “When I won Eastern States the first time (1979), I knew I could do this as a profession,” he says.
Brett is a five-time winner of the “Syracuse 200,” the biggest single event in Modified racing. “I count my first Syracuse win in 1985 as on of my biggest racing thrills,” he says. But not his only one. Brett also likes to recall his come-from-behind 100-lap Eldora Speedway triumph when the DIRTcar Modifieds made their first appearance at the famed Ohio speedway in 2002.
