RICH KUIKEN KICKS OFF NASCAR SEASON WITH STRONG EFFORT AT CONCORD, NC SPEEDWAY

CONCORD, NC March 22, 2009 . . . Garden State racer Rich Kuiken Jr. kicked off his 2009 racing season with a strong effort in the 150-lap NASCAR Whelen Southen Modified Tour race at Concord, NC Motorsports Park on Saturday night.
The 18-year-old racing talent started 18th in the field of top running modified stock car racers and had worked his way to an 11th place finish before settling in at 13th and finishing in that position.
Ted Christopher, the 2008 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, won the race.
Staffordville, NJ based Kuiken was making his first start in the Fishel Racing Group modified owned by Bryan Fishel of Davidson County, NC.
“It is really great to be part of such a great team,” said Kuiken. “The car was strong as we worked on the setup and me getting adjusted to the car. The team has a great history and quite an impressive record. I anticipate that I will be able to learn a lot from Mr. Fishel and all the team members as we go through the 2009 season.”
The team heads to Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC for a Friday, March 27th race featuring the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Making it a doubleheader weekend Kuiken will be at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC on Saturday, March 28th.
As is the case with many race teams Kuiken continues to seek sponsorship so that he can expand his schedule of events for the 2009 season.
