Mike Gular Heads Into 2009 With Clean Slate & New Ride

HARLEYSVILLE, PA - Mike Gular enters the 2009 season with a clean slate.

Shaking off memories of a trying 2008, Gular is set to embark on his first campaign driving for the Terry Fasnacht-owned T&S Motorsports operation.

The 25-year-old will race weekly in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 358-Modified division at Grandview Speedway (Bechtelsville, Pa.) on Saturday nights, in addition to Friday 358-Modified competition at Big Diamond Raceway (Forrestville, Pa.).

"We're coming off a tough year - that's for sure," the Harleysville, Pa., second-generation driver said, "but we ended well in our first few races with Terry, which helps our confidence for this year."

Gular is armed with a pair of No. 53 Teo-Pro cars for the upcoming Pennsylvania Dual-Track season openers this weekend - April 3 at Big Diamond and April 4 at Grandview. Larry Lombardo supplies the power in the form of two 10.5-to-1 spec head engines. The equipment is maintained in Gular's Harleysville, Pa., garage.

Gular worked out some electrical issues during a productive practice session at Grandview on Saturday afternoon in advance of the openers.

Sponsors for the T&S Motorsports effort include Conestoga Valley Custom Kitchens (Narvon, Pa.), A.M. Goshow & Son Inc. (Souderton, Pa.), Captain Bob's Seafood (Quakertown, Pa.), Gold Rush Custom Trailer Repair (Denver, Pa.), CRC Industries Inc., Castrol, Four Star Lettering and Brett Deyo Motorsports Media.

Gular earned a NASCAR 358-Modified victory at Grandview April 12 before parting ways with the S&N Racing team in July.

Hired by Fasnacht last fall, Gular got the relationship off to a solid start with a top-five finish during Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway's Atlantic Coast Championship Weekend and a third-place run to cap the Grandview Thunder on the Hill Series season in mid-October.

"I appreciate the opportunity Terry has given me," Gular, 25, said. "We've got good equipment. Hopefully, we can put last year behind us and get off to a strong start."

Gular, a three-time Grandview winner and the 2007 Penn-Can (Pa.) Speedway Modified champion, will also compete in select special events with his self-owned big-block Modified later in the '09 season.
