Hyneman Picks Gular For Keystone Racing No. 126 Seat Saturday At Bridgeport

GREEN LANE, PA - Mike Gular will get his shot in a legendary seat this weekend at Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway.

Gular, 26, has been nabbed the driver of Glenn Hyneman's iconic Keystone Racing No. 126 for Saturday night's 30-lap BPG Racing/Hooters Restaurant Tri-Track Series big-block Modified event at the South Jersey oval.

"It's one race and we'll see where it heads," said Hyneman, whose previous roster of drivers for Keystone Racing includes Craig and Barry Von Dohren, Billy Pauch, Duane Howard and Jeff Strunk.

"I had a decision to make between a few drivers and I felt he (Gular) would be the most appreciative and excited to do it. He ran my car in the Freedom 76 (at Pa.'s Grandview Speedway in 2008) and I thought he did a great job.

"I watched how he ran this year with Terry (Fasnacht, Gular's Saturday owner at Grandview) and he did very well."

Gular runs a Teo-Pro chassis on a weekly basis, which appealed to Hyneman.

"I wanted somebody that runs a Teo and is comfortable in the car," said Hyneman, the majority owner of Gold Rush Custom Trailers in Denver, Pa. "You can't just shove a chassis under a driver anymore and have them accept it."

Green Lane, Pa.'s Gular can hardly wait for the opportunity with Hyneman.

"It's a legendary car," Gular said. "Glenn's had the best drivers in his cars over the years. I'm thankful for the opportunity to drive for him."

While Gular has been a Grandview regular on Saturday nights for his entire career, he did spend a season at Bridgeport when the facility ran Friday-night Modified shows in the early 2000s. That was an added bonus for Hyneman.

"The only hesitation I had was that he lacked lap time at Bridgeport," Hyneman said. "Then I found out talking to him that he did spend some time there.

"I told him we'll go there, see what happens and have some fun."
